Encanterra & San Tan Valley · 85140 · Pinal County
Encanterra is the youngest community we work in, and that changes the whole conversation. Shea started building here in the late 2000s and is still building, so most of these houses are barely old enough to need anything. Nothing in the bathroom has failed. People call us anyway — because the shower they have works fine today and they can see the day it will not, and they would rather decide that on a calm Tuesday than from a hospital bed.

A flat entry with nothing to step over. A floor that is safe to stand on wet. Blocking in the wall so a grab bar is anchored into structure rather than screwed to a panel. A seat where it belongs. Controls you can reach from outside the water. Everything past that is decoration.
Grab bars come in brushed brass and stainless. That is not vanity — a bar that looks like hospital equipment gets taken down before it ever gets used, and then the bathroom is exactly as dangerous as it was.
A 2008-to-now production house is an easy house to work in and we will say so. Expect an acrylic or fiberglass pan set on a 3-to-4 inch curb, a 2-inch drain that is already the right size, and single-story plans from about 1,300 to over 3,500 square feet with enough room to go curbless inside the existing walls. The one thing that is not casual is the slab: Arizona production homes of this era are post-tension almost without exception, and a post-tension slab gets scanned before a saw touches it. Cutting a tendon is a structural repair, not a mistake you sweep up.
Two things slow a job here that do not slow one in an older neighbourhood. First, Encanterra is gated and runs contractor registration, work hours and parking like the resort community it is — we do that paperwork, and we do not name a start date until we know what is allowed. Second, the house is new enough that the rest of the bathroom still matches the builder package, so the new work has to meet a finish that is still current rather than blend into something forty years old. That is a design question, and it is easier to answer before demolition than after.
San Tan Valley is in Pinal County and most of it is unincorporated, so permits run through the county rather than a city — a different desk and a different timeline from the same job in Chandler or Mesa, and worth knowing before you plan around a date. Encanterra also has an age-qualified side and an all-ages side, which in practice means the person who calls us is often not the person who will use the shower. Either of you can start the conversation; we would rather both of you were on the walkthrough.
The same build can be the nicest room in the house: seamless panel walls in stone or marble finishes, frameless low-iron glass, warm metal hardware. Safe and good-looking are not two different projects.
Every seam in a shower wall is somewhere water gets in and mildew comes back. A seamless solid-surface panel has none of them — no grout lines to scrub, seal, or redo in four years. You wipe the wall down and you are finished.
It also installs faster, and the result does not depend on whether one setter had a good week. This is the only way QC Showers builds a shower. It is a deliberate choice, not a limitation.
John Montiel, QC Plumbing — Arizona ROC #344196, licensed, bonded and insured. A shower is a plumbing job with a finish on it, so the person who sells it should be the licensed plumber who installs it. There is no crew you have never met and no franchise call centre between you and the work.

A flat entry with no curb to step over, a floor you can stand on wet, blocking in the wall so a grab bar is anchored into structure instead of screwed to a panel, a bench or a seat where it belongs, and controls you can reach from outside the spray. Everything else is decoration. Grab bars come in brass and stainless — they can look like hardware rather than hospital equipment, and that matters more than people admit, because a bar that is ugly gets removed before it gets used.
Yes, and this is most of what we argue about with customers. A grab bar has to be anchored into blocking in the wall to be worth anything — that is a framing decision made before the wall closes, and it is the single most common thing left out of somebody else's job. Done right, in brushed brass or stainless, it reads as hardware.
Continuous solid-surface panel walls in smooth white, grey marble, cream marble or warm stone, frameless low-iron glass, and warm metal hardware. Low-iron glass matters more than it sounds — ordinary glass carries a green cast that changes every colour behind it.
